HOW YOU CAN HELP

Donations from individuals like you are critical to Sunnyside Community Services’ ability to serve children, teenagers, adults, and the elderly. We are a tax-exempt not-for-profit organization, so normally your gifts are 100% tax deductible. There are so many ways you can help! Feel free to call Sue Fox at (718) 784-6173, ext. 432 (TDD/TTY (800) 662-1220), if you'd like more information.

DONATE NOW!

Amount: $

Online donations are run through NYcharities.org.
Donations are tax-deductible, safe, and VeriSign secured.

BY CREDIT CARD: Make a secure donation online above using any major credit card. By phone (VISA and MC only), call Tracy Jenkins at (718) 784-6173, ext. 447 (TDD/TTY (800) 662-1220).

BY CHECK: Make payable to Sunnyside Community Services and mail to:

Development Department
Sunnyside Community Services
43-31 39th Street
Sunnyside, NY 11104

Giving through Recycling

You can help Sunnyside Community Services AND protect the environment by recycling all kinds of used printer cartridges and old cell phones. We have an arrangement with a nonprofit organization that makes it very easy to recycle, and pays SCS for each item received. If you are interested in helping in this way, please call Roberta Zulawski at (718) 784-6173, ext. 434 (TDD/TTY (800) 662-1220).

Giving at Work

MATCHING GIFTS PROGRAM: More than 400 employers in the United States will match your gift to SCS. Check with your company's human resources department to see if you have a Matching Gifts Program, and to find out how you can arrange this.

PAYROLL DEDUCTION AT WORK: Many donors find it convenient to have their contributions withheld from their paychecks (before taxes) so that giving is spread out over the course of a year. Again, check with your human resources department to see how you can arrange this.

THROUGH UNITED WAY: You can designate Sunnyside Community Services as a recipient when you donate to United Way at your job. In some programs, United Way will send us a single check combining many donations. Please let us know if you've elected this option so we can acknowledge your gift appropriately.

Giving Shares of Stock

You may decide that donating shares you have owned for many years will benefit you at tax time (check with your accountant or tax advisor). Or you may have small "odd lots" of stocks that have split or spun off from other companies and feel it would be easier to donate them than to figure out their cost basis for tax purposes. If you would like to donate shares, please call Sue Fox at (718) 784-6173, ext. 432 (TDD/TTY (800) 662-1220), so we can help you with the process.

Planned Giving

REMEMBER US IN YOUR WILL: You may leave any portion of your estate to Sunnyside Community Services, directly or through a trust. You should discuss this possibility with your family and your attorney. If you decide to include us in your will, we understand that you may prefer to keep this private. But if you are willing, we would certainly like to hear from you so we can acknowledge your gift during your lifetime.

OTHER ASSETS: Some donors prefer to make SCS a beneficiary of their life insurance policy, IRA, or pension program. Again, this should be discussed with your family and your attorney.

As a member of our Legacy Society, you will be invited to a luncheon each year to meet with others who share your generosity.

Gifts to Honor or Memorialize a Friend or Family Member

TELL US WHOM YOU WANT TO HONOR: We will be happy to recognize any type of gift by sending an acknowledgment to the honoree or to the family of the person you are honoring by your donation. Simply enclose a note with the name and address of the individual who should receive the acknowledgment.

NAME A ROOM: If you would like to honor someone you know by naming a room for him or her, please call for a brochure, or discuss the project with Sue Fox at (718) 784-6173, ext. 432 (TDD/TTY (800) 662-1220).

BUY A GLASS BRICK: One popular way to support SCS is to purchase a glass brick in a decorative interior wall of our new Center for Active Older Adults. Each brick costs $100. Just make a note of this purchase on your check payable to Sunnyside Community Services and mail to:

Development Department

Giving to the Endowment Fund

An endowment fund protects the long-term stability and viability of an organization. You may designate any gift for this purpose. Unless you tell us otherwise, gifts of stock will go to the Gregory M. Kaladjian Endowment Fund.
