FOURTH ANNUAL BENEFIT ART AUCTION, OCTOBER 18, 2007

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's auction our biggest and most successful to date! Check out photos of the fun-filled evening below; click on the following to see the artwork and a list of artists and their bios.

Buyers snapped up more than 35 pieces of artwork by a select group of emerging and established artists, many of whom have international reputations. This year's event honored two of the best-liked individuals in Western Queens, Dr. Gail Mellow, President of LaGuardia Community College, and John Vogt, Regional Director of Operations for White Castle and President of the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce. Guests enjoyed music by Mimi Jones Band, fabulous wine from Lowery Liquor and Wine Co. and PRP Restaurants, and delicious food by John Harrison.

Clockwise from top left: SCS Executive Director Judy Zangwill congratulates honoree John Vogt; honoree Gail Mellow receives her award from Ms. Zangwill; guests display proper bidding technique; artist Laura Heim (left) poses with her watercolor 7 Local; a guest peruses the silent auction items; the Mimi Jones Band provides musical entertainment; auctioneer Ric Cherwin leads the auction; guests view artwork for sale; and (center) a good-natured bidding war.
