VOLUNTEER SERVICES

Homebound seniors need more than food. Our home care programs originally began with volunteers who visited, called, and ran errands for their frail neighbors. Thirty years later, our large and active volunteer corps continues to provide this help to homebound seniors, through Senior Companions, friendly visiting, telephone reassurance programs, and escorted transportation to doctors when necessary.

Volunteers of all ages also work in every program at Sunnyside Community Services, serving meals at the Senior Center, providing respite for family members caring for relatives with Alzheimer's, running classes and workshops at the Senior Center, tutoring children, working in the office, and so much more.

If you’d like to volunteer, or if you need volunteer services, call (718) 784-6173, ext. 401 (TDD/TTY (800) 662-1220).
