Sunnyside Community Services has an opportunity available for a bilingual Program Aide. The individual in this role will perform supportive client services and assist with the overall operation of the Social Adult Day Program.
Responsibilities
- Create and contribute to the friendly, warm and safe environment of the program.
- Treat other staff, clients, volunteers, and caregivers with dignity and respect.
- Adhere to the Client Bill of Rights and Sunnyside Community Services’ Code of Conduct.
- Plan and assist in developing all program activities.
- Provide program leadership that encourages participant strengths, facilitates client participation, and promotes client independence.
- Assist the participant with daily living skills, such as feeding, toileting, grooming, and transferring.
- Observe and document participant daily activities. Assist in serving breakfast, lunch and snacks.
- Greet participants and assist them in and out of the vehicles. When necessary, escort clients to their home and ensure they get into their apartment safely.
- Keep accurate statistics/records as required.
- Keep program area tidy, safe, and in readiness for program participation.
- Attend and participate in orientation, staff education, and ongoing training.
- Attend daily and monthly meetings as scheduled.
- Notify the Program Manager of any changes, issues/problems, or observations with regard to client’s and /or caregivers.
- Provide input into each client’s service plan, carry out each plan, and inform the Program Manager regarding needed changes to each client’s plan of care.
- Work cooperatively with volunteers and students to assure maximum continuity and quality of the program.
- Report to the Adult Day Program Manager regularly.
- Update CPR training.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Frequent prolonged standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and/or transferring clients. Lifts supplies and equipment. Frequently twists, stoops, bends, squats. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position without compromising client care.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, and/or certification as a home health aide/personal care aide or dementia specialist.
- Related experience in home care or with recreational activities geared towards the aging and/or seniors diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or related dementias may be substituted for educational requirements.

Compensation: $17 an hour
