Government Program Provides Free Wi-Fi to Residents Who Qualify

Council Member Julie Won has partnered with SCS and other local nonprofits to help eligible residents sign up for free Wi-Fi.

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a federal program that provides free Wi-Fi to households with income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Others who are eligible for free Wi-Fi through this program include households that participate in the National School Lunch Program, the School Breakfast Program, SNAP, Medicaid, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), WIC, Veterans Pension or Survivor Benefits, and Lifeline.

The ACP program will provide a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service with a participating internet provider.

Council Member Julie Won is planning enrollment events on Saturday, August 20 at Queensbridge Houses and Saturday, August 27 at Ravenswood Houses. Those who cannot attend an enrollment event can apply via the website below.
