English for Speakers of Other Languages

ESOL student graduates from course
ESOL online classes

Sunnyside Community Services provides comprehensive, free English as a Second Language (ESOL) classes to help participants improve their English language skills. The classes are taught by expert ESOL instructors. The curriculum was created to meet the needs of all immigrants. Each day will help you to build the skills you need to communicate with employers, doctors, landlords, your children’s teachers, and others in the community.

Courses are available in Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions, with both morning and evening options offered.

ESOL classes also develop students' knowledge of:

  • Community
  • Health
  • Employment
  • Civics

For Home Health Aides and other medical professionals we provide specialized ESOL classes that focus on health to advance your English and your career.

Student support services include advisement, free tutoring, and help with accessing other public benefits, social services, or other forms of relief.

Currently, all ESOL courses are available online through Zoom conferences and Google Classroom on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Contact us to learn about the next session.

Funding for our ESOL program is provided by the Department of Youth and Community Development and the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation.
